Testimonials Setup Guide
This guide explains how to configure the Testimonials section of your Shopify store— a trust-building section that showcases real user feedback (e.g., customer reviews of your store, products, or design) to reinforce credibility and encourage new visitors to convert.
All settings mentioned below can be found in:
Online Store → Themes → Customize → Testimonials

For best results: Upload five or more testimonials (as recommended in the settings) — this creates a full, authentic-looking feedback carousel.
Overall Testimonials Settings
Font size
Slider (default: 100%) that controls the size of all text in the Testimonials section (including review content and author names).
- Adjust between
80% (subtle, secondary feedback) and 120% (prominent, key testimonials). - Stick to
90-110% for readability — overly large text can crowd the carousel, while small text may be unreadable on mobile.
Enable autoplay
Toggle switch that controls whether testimonials automatically rotate (carousel-style) without user input.
- Enabled: Testimonials switch automatically (great for passive browsing).
- Disabled: Testimonials stay static until users navigate (better for focused reading).
- Recommendation: Enable this for busy store pages (e.g., homepage) to showcase more feedback.
Autoplay speed (seconds)
Slider (default: 8 s) that sets the time interval between automatic testimonial rotations.
- Use
5-10 seconds: Give users enough time to read short feedback (avoid <5s — it’s too fast for most readers). - Match speed to your testimonial length: Longer reviews need
10-12s intervals.
Slides to show on desktop/mobile
Controls how many testimonials are visible at once (separate settings for desktop and mobile screens).
- Slides to show on desktop (default:
5): Use 3-5 (balances variety and readability). - Slides to show on mobile (default:
2): Use 1-2 (avoids crowding on small screens).
Show navigation arrows
Toggle switch that displays left/right arrows for users to manually navigate between testimonials.
- Recommendation: Always enable this — it lets users browse feedback at their own pace (even if autoplay is on).
Section Spacing
Top spacing
Slider (default: 0 px) that sets the gap between the Testimonials section and the content above it.
- Increase to
20-40 px if the section feels cramped (e.g., below a product grid).
Bottom spacing
Slider (default: 32 px) that sets the gap between the Testimonials section and the content below it.
- Match to top spacing for visual symmetry, or adjust to fit your page flow (e.g., more spacing before a footer).
Individual Testimonial Settings
Customize each testimonial block (add/edit via the "Add block" button in the customizer):
Text
The core feedback content from the user (the "review" itself).
- Keep it concise: Focus on 1-2 key points (e.g., "The design quality is impressive. My product pages look more professional than ever.").
- Use specific details: Avoid generic feedback (e.g., "Great store!" — instead, highlight "fast shipping" or "easy checkout").
- Format with basic styling (bold/italics) to emphasize key phrases (e.g., bold "more professional").
Author
The name of the user who provided the testimonial (adds authenticity).
- Use real names (e.g., Olivia Bennett) — fake/anonymous names reduce trust.
- Optional: Add a small detail (e.g., Olivia Bennett, Small Business Owner) for extra context.
Author logo
The profile photo/avatar of the testimonial author (reinforces realness).
- Upload a
PNG file (transparent background recommended). - Follow the recommendation: 200px height (ensures sharpness in the circular avatar).
- Use real user photos (if available) — stock photos are less authentic.
Best Practices
- Collect diverse feedback: Showcase reviews about design, products, shipping, and customer service (not just one category).
- Keep testimonials up-to-date: Add new feedback every 1-2 months to keep the section fresh.
- Test on mobile: Ensure avatar images and text don’t overlap, and navigation arrows are easy to tap.
- Avoid over-editing: Keep feedback natural (small grammar fixes are fine, but don’t rewrite the user’s voice).
Testimonials are one of the most powerful trust signals for new visitors — invest time in collecting and displaying authentic, specific feedback to boost conversions!
